The CAN After School Program is a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for middle schoolers and their younger siblings to go after school. The students receive homework help, a snack, and the opportunity to participate in a variety of recreational activities. Activities include tissue paper art, role playing/video taping, painting figurines, water battle, talent show, Scattergories, holiday parties, tie-dye, relay races, stringing beads, football, birthday parties, dollar sub days and many, many more. There is access to computers for homework help, research, and educational games.
Denzel Washington (actor), Raymond Flynn (former Boston mayor), Althea Gibson (African-American tennis star), and Jacob Lawrence (painter) – what do these four people have in common? They each credit much of their success as professional adults to their childhood after school program. The Community Assistance Network (CAN) After School Program is grooming the next generation of successful adults.
Whether or not the next Denzel Washington is in the CAN After School Program today, we feel confident that the nurturing and support CAN provides will help our students become successful, contributing members of society. The CAN After School Program makes a difference in kids’ lives.
To enroll your child at The CAN After School Program, please give us a call at (410) 823-5302, email us, or just stop by the program!! We will ask you to fill out registration forms and your child can begin as soon as the forms are signed.
The CAN After School Program is located at 6600 Wycombe Way in the Hillendale Gate Apartments, off Loch Raven Boulevard. It is on the Loch Raven Academy school bus route, and is also walking distance from Halstead Academy. Located in Hillendale in Baltimore County just north of the Baltimore City line, the CAN After School Program can also be reached using the MTA bus #3.
The program is open Monday through Friday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. with transportation from Loch Raven Academy. Please check with staff for hours during holidays, summer, and other school closings.
