Workforce Development
home
about can
The relationship between healthy families and job stability in single parent households is crucial; periodic breaks in employment threaten future employability. Through Workforce Development, working parents seek to reverse the “job-hopping” cycle, to develop new skill sets and to develop the perseverance required to attain their goals.
A Better Future Through "Soft Skills"
Workforce Development
Job counseling in the Workforce Development program comes in the form of helping clients to recognize strong and weak areas in their "skill sets"; to identify possible avenues of specialization, skill enhancement, and immediate as well as long range career tracks. The guiding philosophy behind this program is that each participant is responsible for his or her self-sufficiency. Our employment counselors present clients with positive first steps.
The Workforce Development program's approach is to enable individuals to have better access to resources needed to obtain and enhance employment opportunities, eliminating many of the social and financial barriers that low income individuals are challenged with.
Participants will be exposed to opportunities that will build skill-sets and enhance future career options. Successful participants may chose career development programs that lead to certification as a Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, CDL Class A and B, Early Childhood Child Care, Culinary Arts, HVAC and Refrigeration,  Weatherization and other programs.
