Emergency Food Packages
The Community Assistance Network (CAN) provides emergency food to income eligible Baltimore County residents. The Emergency Food Package is meant only as a supplement and provides enough food for approximately 5 to 7 days. CAN attempts to provide food from the major food groups so that each package is nutritionally balanced. However, the contents of each package is dependent upon donations that we receive. Therefore, the contents of packages will vary from day to day. Eligible recipients may receive emergency food only once every 30 calendar days.
Volunteers from the Baltimore Chapter of the
Penn State Alumni Association help fill our
Holiday Food boxes.
Eligibility for emergency food packages is determined through the following documents: 1) some form of photo identification with current address; 2) proof of household income; 3) Social Security card(s); and 4) information related to other persons in your household (e.g. name, Social Security number, age).
CAN serves approximately 1,000 emergency food packages each month. In December of each year, we serve an additional 1,500 Holiday Food boxes.
